Bondinsul 57-G is a unmodified solvent free epoxy resin of medium viscosity, which in combination with hardener 74-D & accelerator PDY-0602 is cured into a hard mass.accelerator curtails pot life, lower cure temperature, reduce both cooling shrinkage and the risk of cracking when encapsulating metal components.

 

TYPICAL USES

The system is ideal for casting, encapsulating, potting of electrical and electronic parts such as post type insulators, switch gears, bushing, motors, high voltage choke coils, ignition coils etc.

 

 

APPLICATION METHOD

The resin and hardener are mixed in a mixer at 20-40ºc under a vacuum of 0.1-1 mbar at 20-25 the resultant mix has a pot life of about 20 days. After this period it has double of its viscosity. The complete mix is cast in preheated mouldsin an auto clave under vacuum of 5-20 mbar at a temperature of 70-100. a plasticized accelerated system filled with silica flour is generally used to castelectrically insulating components applications for medium and high voltage engineering.

 

ADDITION OF FILLER

The addition of powdered fillers may present difficulties when casting mix, the viscosity of mixture they increased. They must be properly wetted by the resin and mix must be thoroughly degassed if the casting are intended for application in high voltage engineering. The best results are obtained with a thin film degassed mixer. The uses of high quality fillers have no effect on cure time, but there damping may effect on exothermic rise, resulting in slighter long time. Silica flour imparts the best mechanical properties but make casting more difficult to finish.

STORAGE AND PRECAUTION

 

More than 12 months when stored in cool and dry condition. Avoid direct contact of resin hardener with skin. Splash on the skin if any should be removed immediately with soap. Lukewarm water or a suitable remover.
